A court of Sentence in the department of La Libertad sentenced Joel Armando Rodríguez Portillo to 20 years in prison for the murder of a man that occurred on a soccer field in the municipality of Tepecoyo on September 14, 2016.
According to the investigation by the Office of the Attorney General (FGR), which was validated by the court, Rodríguez Portillo and other gang members intercepted the victim when he was on his way to work.
The criminal and his accomplices took the victim to the local soccer field, where they beat him and then shot him with a firearm, causing his death. Rodríguez Portillo was found guilty of aggravated homicide.
On the other hand, a court of Sentence in the department of La Paz sentenced the MS-13 gang member José Gregorio Ábrego Velis to 30 years in prison for murdering a person on May 5, 2019 in San Pedro Masahuat.
The FGR proved before the court that Ábrego Velis, along with other gang members, killed an employee of a business who asked the criminals to leave the place because they were causing disorder.
Ábrego Velis was found guilty of aggravated homicide.
