Jose Fernando Sanchez Salgado was sentenced to eleven months of incarceration by San Miguel’s specialized Sentencer of Violence and Discrimination against Women Court for attempted Femnicide as well as Disobeying Protection Measures after trying to Assauld His Ex.
The Fiscalia General de la Republica (FGR) presented to a judge its investigation which revealed that on 20 February 2023, Sanchez Salgado attempted to murder his former life partner while under the influence of alcohol at their Jucuapa, Usulutan-area house.
Sanchez Salgado arrived unannounced late at night at his former partner’s residence where both their children were sleeping soundly. An argument escalated into violence before Sanchez Salgado began assailing his former lover with physical force before taking unconscious steps against her with both hands to push her away involuntarily.
Neighbors were quick to respond when an incident arose in their community. After calling Emergency 911 of the Policia Nacional Civil (PNC), someone reported an instance of domestic violence; agents of PNC then visited victim’s house where they discovered her unconscious on the floor and immediately transported her to hospital for care.
Initial investigations determined that Sanchez Salgado attempted to murder the woman; consequently he was detained.
This case had violent underpinnings, with the victim taking protective steps due to previous acts by Sanchez Salgado against her.
