Over the weekend, in the San Miguel department, the National Civil Police arrested two individuals accused of the crime of illicit associations for being part of the MS-13 gang.
The authorities reported the apprehension of José Roberto Hernández Argueta, 22 years old, also known as «Tamarindo», and Mario Ernesto MartÃnez Bonilla, 24 years old, also known as «Negro».
The Police ensured that officers providing security to the attendees of the San Miguel Carnival on Saturday, November 25, noticed two individuals in the crowd starting to make hand signals.
The officers detected that the two men were making gang-related signals, known as «promoting the neighborhood», and promptly took action to intervene.
Upon checking their identifications, they found that both had outstanding warrants for the crime of illicit associations and recognized them as two members of the Mara Salvatrucha.
«The pride of belonging to that terrorist group has come to an end for them,» stated the PNC, who referred the detainees to the Prosecutor’s Office for criminal processing in the courts.
